Apple Picking Gone Wrong

This weekend Lee Ann and I pretended to be a couple 40 somethings with 3 kids. At least that is how our friend described us as we planned to go apple picking in Virginia. We rented a car, drove for 150 minutes rather than the anticipated 75, and arrived at the apple orchard too late for the cider festival. With an hour remaining until the place closed we made the most of our time (including free admission to the corn maze and staying 30 minutes past closing time). After picking apples our from a bin in the farm store (yes you read that correctly), and buying our apple butter and cider, I was able to snap a couple photos.

"Opening Clouds"

"Towering Stalks"                                        "Weathered Wood"

"Rusted"

"Hayrides in the Fields"

  1. Yes, how could we have forgotten to mention those three all this time...

I really like the top picture. It literally grabbed me like I'd never seen it before. I immediately thought, "Chris did not take that! He must be stealing from some professional website!" Great work Chris!

  2. I adore the "Towering Stalks" photo and really makes me feel like I'm being towered over. I also really liked "Opening Clouds" but I was drawn to the green grass before the clouds, which I think is the highlight of the photo" I thought it was a lovely photo

  3. Opening clouds and rusted are my favorites here. I like the clouds because I think you really did capture an awesome moment there. Rusted is great because it has such texture. Still I wonder if more could be done with the rusted photo, by putting the metal in contrast with something else in the frame. For example, imagine if there was a bug crawling on the rusted metal. That would be an amazing shot. Of course I realize the bugs were maybe not cooperating with you at the time. The other photos I find pretty normal and uninteresting.
